This is really quite a stunning picture.  The poplar that makes up the leaves has a lovely chatoyance that shimmers when you look at it from different angles.  The background wood is Orientalwood from Australia and the flower is made up of different dyed and bleached woods.  The border is walnut with turtleback poplar squares in the corners.

The frame works particularly well with this picture as it picks up the mauve in the walnut border and in the center of the flower as well as the greens.

I am presently working on 3 more magnolias which will match this one, forming a set.

The leaves of the poppy are made up of several pieces of yellow poplar and the flowers are dyed yellow veneers.  The lovely background is a walnut crotch.

This picture works nicely with D108 Chicory (below) as a pair as they are framed the same and the same size.

The background veneer is eucalyptus.  The flower is made of different dyed veneers.  The "pencil" sketch of the second flower and leaf is done by scoring into the background veneer with a craft knife, creating a subtle image.

The leaves of the rose are yellow polar and turtleback poplar on a birdseye maple background.  The petals show delicate shading which was created by using different parts of the same piece of veneer, species unknown.

The lily is maple pommel.  The shading in the center of the flower and the tips are done by charring the veneer in hot sand, thus creating shadows.  The background is walnut burl and the border is a striking tiger-stripe maple.

I have 3 more of these, all a little different, forming a set.

This was one of a set of 3 daisies.  This daisy is made of satinwood.  The shading is created by dipping the veneer in hot sand, which chars the edges, thus creating a show.  The background veneer is redwood burl and the border is figured sycamore.

I made a set of 5 different southeastern wildflowers including this VA Spring Beauty.  The flower is made entirely from dyed veneers.  The background is walnut with a birdseye maple border and madrone burl in the corners.

The tulip is made of pimiento wood, which is a lovely reddish pink.  The stem is turtleback poplar and the background is ash burl.  The border around the picture is Brazilian Rosewood.
